Question 1: What are the one or two most critical issues in your precinct and/or the Town and how would you address them? Question 2: Biographical data. |
1. Commercialization of cannabis places a high responsibility on government to avoid harm to existing retail districts. Brookline can learn from the practices of other municipalities, which have exercised more caution when locating retail cannabis. Brookline's first round of bylaws are less precautionary than others and will need revision as experience develops. I helped draft Warrant Article 21, which gives the Select Board more explicit authority to determine whether a site is legal before entering into an agreement with a cannabis operator. 2. My wife Amy and I have lived in Brookline for the past 7 years. Our oldest child attends Brookline Early Education Program (BEEP) and will enter kindergarten at the Lawrence school. I am the founder of a non-profit whose mission is to improve collaboration between the St. Mary's business district and the neighborhood and I led the effort to oppose retail cannabis at the former Waxy's bar. www.OpenP1c.org |
