Question 1: What town wide issue affects your precinct the most and how would you address it? Question 2: Biographical data. |
1. There are no viable alternatives to the May 8 overrides and no realistic strategies that would avoid periodic overrides of Massachusetts' Proposition 2 1/2. The strategy that will meet the needs of our schools and our town is supporting the override and debt exclusion. Brookline already controls the pain of Prop 2 1/2, with strong management, prudent fiscal policies and practices, and reasonably spaced overrides that cover the structural deficits forced on us by Prop 2 1/2. Passage of the operating override will provide the resources necessary to respond to the 40% rise in elementary school enrollment, and to invest in important senior services, snow removal and sidewalk repair, climate change adaptation, building repair and maintenance, and library and recreation services. Passage of the debt exclusion will fund an enrollment driven renovation and expansion of Brookline High School. Passing the override and debt exclusion also helps Brookline maintain its triple-A bond ratings, which reduces our borrowing costs to finance the capital cost of our schools, parks, playgrounds, streets, sidewalks, buildings, and public safety equipment. Support for the overrides is the most prudent way to maintain Brookline's superior quality of life for seniors, families, and young people. 2. I am a financial transactions lawyer with a state agency that finances wastewater and drinking water projects throughout Massachusetts. I graduated from Swarthmore College and Boston College Law School. I am married and have two adult children.
