Biography

2018 League of Women Voters' Guide

Question 1: What town wide issue affects your precinct the most and how would you address it?
Question 2: Biographical data.

1. The school issue is of central importance to precinct 11, but it's not only an issue for those with small children - it touches on how to make our town welcoming and affordable while maintaining high-quality education; raises questions when conservation or history conflicts with current needs; forces consideration of proximity to a school for walking and biking; and others. Town Meeting can support the override and enact policies that prioritize the schools.

2. Shira grew up in Brookline and is a proud BHS alum. She works in health care policy, focusing on health informatics, an holds an MD as well as a PhD in epidemiology. She was first elected to Town Meeting in 2014. She has written about health information technology as well as penning a column about social justice as a fellow through American Jewish World Service. Her husband is also a BHS alum and they have 3 daughters.
